experiment with organics. I enjoyed making my Dragon Experiment rendering
a great deal and gained a lot of experience from that project. I wanted to
further hone my skills. In this rendering I created a water leviathan and
set it in a more natural scene. I used Standard Primitives, Extended
Primitives & Splines for the basic shapes. Converted them into Editable
Polygons and manipulated them using vertices, Extrusion and other elements.
I created some new textures using Adobe programs and a Deep Paint plugin. I
used modifiers such as Mesh Smooth, Turbo Mesh, Noise, Ripple, Bend to give
the organic form a more natural appeal. I further customized the materials
and textures, transparency, reflection aspects and such.
The scene itself was a whole other project in itself. My crowning
achievement with the scene was the creation of a Particle Waterfall. This
was a complicated undertaking which involved very specific manipulation of
the P-Array, Bind to Space Warps, Vortex, Displacement & Gravity effects.
Those components working together to instruct the particle to flow and
change direction. Adding a Use Rate of 600 gave a blur effect to the
particles. Using the frame selection I was able to generate a waterfall
effect by moving the frames along creating a time lapse effect. For
material effects I used Drops and a Ray Trace Reflection map made some
changes to the Object Properties and even added a Target Camera with Depth
of Field and other specialized settings.
The rest of the scene was fairly simple. Creating Geo Spheres and using
Modifiers such as Noise, Ripple, Skew, Stretch, Squash, to make a variety
of different sized and shaped rock formations. I added foliage and then set
up a few Direct Spot Lights with shadow parameters and such for the final
touches.
Hope you enjoy, Xander.

Look back at our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day's strength to it's source;
And you'll find that man's pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of the horse.
